Infertility and Hypnosis
In approximately one-third of infertility cases, no medical condition that could cause infertility can be diagnosed. This is referred to as unexplained infertility. In cases of unexplained infertility, applying additional treatments and benefiting from modern medicine can lead to quite successful outcomes.
In unexplained infertility problems, stress is often the biggest contributing factor. With the hypnosis method, the hormones blocked due to stress and psychological negativities can be prevented.
Infertility and Stress
Not being able to conceive naturally can create serious pressure on couples. Especially social factors and the psychological aspects of the treatment increase the level of stress. The most accurate way to control stress is to receive correct information about infertility and its treatment. Nevertheless, stress may be uncontrollable in certain situations.
The most negative effect of stress on infertility treatment is that the area of the brain where reproductive hormones are secreted is very close to the area where stress hormones are produced. Therefore, keeping stress under control increases the success rate of the treatment.
Stress greatly affects progesterone, a hormone that helps prepare the uterus before embryo transfer. Progesterone is one of the main hormones necessary for a healthy pregnancy.
While hypnosis therapy is used to reduce stress, it also helps eliminate the conditions that block pregnancy and particularly affect the prospective mother negatively. The fundamental principle of hypnosis therapy used in infertility treatment is that fertility is a natural function.
This approach focuses more on the natural process and the body regaining its natural function rather than fertility itself. Couples beginning infertility treatment often tend to blame themselves for situations beyond their control.
Such mental fatigue is far from creating the appropriate and ideal conditions for pregnancy. With the hypnosis method, control over the body, fear of becoming pregnant, and lack of self-confidence are balanced. The disrupted balance between mind and body is restored through hypnosis.
How Is Hypnosis Therapy Applied?
Hypnosis, which supports infertility treatment, is applied during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Before starting treatment, physical and mental preparation can be made with hypnosis sessions. The embryo transfer stage is perhaps the most decisive phase in increasing the chance of pregnancy. At this stage, embryos obtained from the fertilized eggs developed in the laboratory are transferred to the uterus of the prospective mother.
However, if there are contractions in the uterus due to stress, the chance of the embryo implanting in the uterus decreases. Hypnosis therapy applied at this stage helps the prospective mother relax during embryo transfer and increases the chance of pregnancy.
According to research, pregnancy chances increased in 89% of women who underwent hypnosis therapy during embryo transfer.
